Sandwich is one of the oldest and least-changed villages in the Lakes Region — chartered in 1763, with the white clapboard houses of Center Sandwich standing around the green below the Sandwich Range. A corner of Squam Lake touches the town’s southwest line, the Bearcamp River runs through the middle of it, and Routes 113 and 109 carry most of what comes and goes. It’s an antique-house town on back roads, and the carpet work here follows from both of those facts.
