Barnstead is the southern gateway to the Lakes Region — Center Barnstead, Barnstead Parade, and South Barnstead spread across rolling country between the Suncook Lakes and the Suncook River. It’s a town of shoreline camps and tight-packed lake colonies on one side and back-road year-round homes on the other, and the carpet work splits the same way.

Older camps around the Suncook Lakes often hold wool or oriental rugs that want testing and a controlled, low-moisture method rather than a heavy soak.
If you’re on Locke Lake or the Suncook Lakes, book the carpet after Labor Day rather than before. A full season of sand tracked up from the shore is still sitting in the pile, and pulling it out in the fall keeps it from cutting the fibers all winter.
